The challenge

How might a single material express a range of attitudes? This exploration uses folded metal to investigate the relationship between viewpoint, light and perceived character.

Creative approach

Angular surfaces act as a system of contrasts. Hard edges are balanced with soft reflected light; the same object feels assertive or delicate from different viewpoints. A motion direction proposes slow rotations and decisive cuts, rather than movement for its own sake.
